God Equipped You with Everything You Need

There’s a lie a lot of us buy into—that we need more before we can start. More education, more connections, more money, more discipline. But the truth is, God already placed in you everything you need to become everything He’s called you to be.
Now, I’ll be real with you—I didn’t thrive in the traditional school system. I did well up until about thirteen. Then life hit. My parents divorced, and I went sideways. Not as an excuse—just facts. Even after that, I still knew I was smart. I ended up getting my GED when I found out I was about to become a father at eighteen. I tested high, got grants, had every reason to keep pushing. But life doesn’t slow down, and I didn’t have the discipline yet. Tried school three different times. Could’ve finished. Didn’t.
But here’s what I’ve learned: God doesn’t always equip you with a degree—He equips you with people. With lessons. With real-life experiences that shape your character. Sometimes that education comes in the form of failure. Sometimes it looks like showing up to work when you don’t feel ready. Sometimes it looks like raising a child before you’ve fully figured yourself out.
And through all of that, God kept giving me exactly what I needed—not always what I wanted, but what would grow me. Wisdom came through conversations with people who had been where I was. Direction came from those who had made the mistakes I was about to make and were willing to talk me through it.
That’s when it hit me: we’re all connected in ways deeper than we realize. Whether you own a business or you’re raising a family—or both—every single person you come across has the potential to solve a piece of the puzzle in your life. That part-time worker who’s only available overnight? They might be the key to covering an account and growing your revenue. That single mom on your team? She might be the one who teaches you how to operate with grace under pressure. Everybody has something.
As business owners, we’ve got to stop trying to build solo. We’ve got to get creative. Get flexible. Learn to see people not as problems, but as answers. Maybe they don’t want full-time hours—but if you can adjust and make it work, you both win. That’s leadership. That’s kingdom thinking. God’s economy isn’t built on exploitation—it’s built on mutual growth.
And let’s talk about family. As parents, especially in America, we try to shield our kids from too much. We do the dishes for them, cook all the meals, handle everything. But sometimes what we think is protection is actually holding them back. Chores aren’t punishment—they’re preparation. Teaching your kids to clean the house, make a meal, or run a load of laundry is teaching them to stand on their own. That’s love.
Your household is your greatest business. If your home is in order, everything else falls into place. And if your kids don’t learn the fundamentals of managing that space—keeping it clean, organized, on schedule, and stocked—they're missing the most important job training they’ll ever get. Before they enter the workforce, before they even get their first paycheck, their responsibility should be learning how to care for the space they live in. That’s their essential job—alongside getting good grades, being kind to others, and being loved deeply by you.
But love also means teaching discipline, showing them how to time block, how to maintain a space, how to take ownership. Those are life skills, not just chores. And when they leave your house, they’ll be equipped not just to survive—but to lead.
So here’s the bottom line: everything and everyone you need to build the life you’re called to live is already within reach. You just have to see it. You have to stop disqualifying yourself based on what you didn’t finish or who you’re not. You’re already equipped.
God didn’t make a mistake putting that dream in your heart. Now it’s on you to trust what He’s already placed in your hands.
So if you're doubting yourself today, wondering if you're ready, wondering if you’ve got what it takes—remember this: God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to move. To trust. To see the people and the opportunities He’s already placed around you. You’re more prepared than you think. The resources are there. The wisdom is there. The help is there.
All that’s left to do now…is step out on the water like Peter did.
